For Randall

I have said for years that the USPS needed to raise the stamp price to maybe 50 cents or more back 10 years ago and bank the extra income in an interest bearing account to pad themselves for future costs. Good planning - they don;t have it.

Two words - Gubmint agency.

Von. The Postal Service simply can't raise it's rates when it wants to. It has to go before the Postal Board of Governors which is appointed board by the President and approved by Congress. This board usually reflects the party in power. When the Service asked for a raise they were denied and instead given only a 2 cent raise. Politics which is another reason the postal service suffers. Congress owes the Postal Service billions. Yep true and in fact if they had paid the money back, the PO would have MADE $400 million in profit last year. Again, politics.

No, they layoffs haven't been approve by anyone. It is a "might" be. Again, it is politics. Right now the retirement system at the USPS is over funded by 52 billion dollars. That's where the money is and thank Bush with the Postal Reform Act of 2006. Read about6 it here: www.nalc.org
