More background on the Tucson shooter story....

"Finally, a link has been established between overheated political rhetoric and the Tucson Massacre. James Eric Fuller, who was wounded by Jared Loughton and who a week later was carted off by the authorities for yelling death threats at Tucson Tea Party leader Trent Humphries during an ABC town hall event, provides the connection the "mainstream" media tried so hard to fabricate:

"James Eric Fuller, 63, who was shot in the knee, had told The Post on Friday, the day before his arrest, that top Republican figures should be tortured — and their ears severed."

"There would be torture and then an ear necklace, with [Minnesota US Rep.] Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin's ears toward the end, because they're small, female ears, and then Limbaugh, Hannity and the biggest ears of all, Cheney's, in the center," Fuller said.

"Also on Friday, Fuller stopped by the home of gunman Jared Lee Loughner and told a neighbor he was going to forgive the shooter, The Associated Press said.

The question is whether the country will forgive the liberal media for its deliberate attempt to mislead the public into thinking that conservatives are the dangerous lunatics in this story.

All the static being generated on the left just re-enforces the fact that Loughner acted alone, absent any right-wing motivation. So stop embarrassing yourselves by claiming otherwise.

Oh look, Vonster's in damage control mode. Big surprise there. A loony who buys into right wing conspiracies about the federal reserve, mind control and police statism buys a gun that conservative policies allowed him to obtain and uses it to shoot up a crowd, and without anyone saying a word all the neo-fascist nuts in the republican base immediately go on the defensive. You're blaming this on the left? You ought to be ashamed. Your side is the one that preaches violence. You own this tragedy. What's sickening is the way you--YOU--are trying to politicize it by blaming it all on liberals. Pathetic.

How much more wrong could you be? Nice job!

Need to agree with Anon on this. It was the Conservative values in this country that allow almost anyone to buy a gun anytime anywhere. Hell, if you land in Texas, I think they give you a gun. This nut job that shot and killed a little girl, a judge, and others wounding a US Congresswoman is no more connected to the Left than he was to the Right unless of course you listen to Palin who indeed called him a left winged nut job. But how often is Plain correct about anything?

Classmates referred to him as a left-wing pothead HOWEVER if the Democrat/Media noise machine hadn't immediately tried to use this tragedy to their advantage by blaming talk radio and such, we likely wouldn't be arguing this.

And how does the gun figure in? Toughen gun laws all you want, violate the hell out of the 2nd amendment and people who want to do ill will STILL get them. It's a specious argument.

The 2nd amendment is outdated by almost 300 years. No where does it say I can carry a 30 clipped 9mm on my hip. Time for a re-write. Hannity by the way spews hate on his radio show everyday. The guy is never happy and is always mad. I'm sure normal people can take it in but the deranged nut listening in the dark room cleaning his bullets gets all hyped up.

All pot smoking people are considered left. The right is too uptight to smoke pot and get high and many on the right are too busy condemning lifestyles they think goes against their Bible before they get caught in a men's bathroom doing the same.

Fine. Re-write it. Not by regulation or fiat but by the proper mechanism. Let me know how that goes. In the meantime, it's the law of the land and must be obeyed. All gun regulations are technically un-constitutional.

And no, I don't own a gun.

And since Loughner was NOT a consumer of right wing media, the accusations from the left were/are totally baseless and contemptible. Hannity, although I don't like him either, is irrelevant. Oh, and the 2nd is just over 200 years old - 1791 well AFTER the revolution.

As for pot smoking, I'd bet you it's WAY more prevalent among liberals than conservatives. Just sayin'

Vonster, honestly. You're the only blogger I've seen on Peoria.com even making any link between the shooting and politics. So I think if anyone has been trying to use this tragedy to their advantage, it would have to be you. What else would you have to blog about?

How about we ALL just decide that the shooter was a nutjob, the end. AND how about we all agree that the guy who got shot was also a nutjob. They come in many different flavors. Seriously, can't we just drop this??? Nobody will win this argument and it's pointless to try.

The bottom line is a mentally ill man shot a Congresswoman and killed 6 people, and that's an irreversible tragedy. Not something to debate into the ground. Let's learn something from it. For me, it's a reminder that I need to tell my friends and family that I love them more than ever, because you never know if you'll get another chance. For you, it might be something different. I think the one thing we all can agree on is that it was senseless and sad. Don't minimize what happened, ALL OF US, by making it political.

Geez, Yvonne! You're either ignorant or laughable. I said media and Democrat politicians, not local bloggers. I was RESPONDING to politicization, not trying to create it. And there were and continue to be ridiculous accusations that right-wing media caused this. Look at my previous post "C is for Contemptible".

Vonster,if you want to show your defensiveness by calling names and belittling, that only speaks to your character. I'm less than interested in your opinion of me.

And just because you have decided that my comment MUST be invalid because you OBVIOUSLY weren't trying to politicize, let's take a look at your past posts. Nobody on this site has blamed the right for the stupidity in Arizona, you're the only one I'm seeing doing what Anon called "damage control".

Oh, and FYI, you should know that blogging IS a form of media. The Merriam-Webster defines Media as "A medium of cultivation, conveyance, or expression."

By "this site" you mean Peoria.com? What a tiny universe. I was, and continue to refer to the mainstream, old media and certain Democrats.

They have and continue.
